The State of Florida is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Health Support Technician to join our team. As a Health Support Technician, you will provide administrative support to the Department of Health's Women, Infants, and Children Program. This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of administrative procedures and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and record medical data for WIC clients, including height, length, weight, and hemoglobin levels.
- Transcribe medical data to the FL-WiSE system and complete the Lab/Anthro screen with proper measurement conversions.
- Review client immunization records and document information in the Immunization/Blood work screen of the FL-WiSE system.
- Calibrate anthropometric equipment and maintain bio-hazardous materials according to FDOH and CHD requirements.
- Provide administrative support to the WIC program, including operating the FL-WiSE computer terminals, scanners, signature pads, card readers, and pin pads.
- Interview participants for demographics, WIC income eligibility, and immunizations, and issue benefits, special formula, and EBT cards.
- Provide information to the public regarding the WIC Program, classes, and other program events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience in a healthcare or administrative setting preferred.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment.
- Ability to follow office procedures and practices.
- Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.
- Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to prioritize individual workload.
- Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach, and sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to frequently use telephone, computer, copier, and small hand tools.
- Ability to work with occasional loud noises.
- Ability to locate information that is listed alphabetically and numerically.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
This position requires frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and sitting or standing for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
