Position Summary:

The Environmental Compliance Manager for the South Yuma County Landfill is responsible for ensuring adherence to environmental laws concerning air and water quality, as well as solid waste facility licensing. This role encompasses overseeing compliance for landfill operations, liquid waste solidification, recycling, and composting processes in accordance with all relevant regulations at the municipal solid waste facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee technical, procedural, and policy aspects of environmental construction and operational permits.
  • Act as a liaison to regulatory bodies, fostering strong relationships.
  • Provide environmental guidance for engineering and operational initiatives.
  • Stay informed on current and upcoming environmental regulations, offering interpretive support related to landfill operations.
  • Regularly evaluate the environmental compliance status of the landfill and related waste management facilities.
  • Assist in fulfilling necessary environmental testing, documentation, and reporting obligations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Deliver timely updates regarding facility compliance status to corporate leadership.
  • Engage proactively with corporate management, facility personnel, regulators, and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Environmental Science is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance is required.
  • Experience in managing compliance within industrial facilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with landfill operations is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental permitting requirements at various governmental levels is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities are expected.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while adhering to deadlines is crucial.
