Position Overview
This is a PRN role with variable hours, including day shifts of 8 to 12 hours.
Departmental Schedule: M-Th 7am-8pm, Fri 7am-5pm
Role Summary:
As a Physical Therapist, you will deliver services aimed at identifying, preventing, and rehabilitating physical dysfunction or pain, whether acute or chronic. Your responsibilities will include evaluating patients, applying therapeutic techniques, utilizing physical and chemical modalities, and instructing patients and their families to enhance functional independence. You may work with a diverse patient population, including children, adults, and seniors, across various settings such as inpatient, outpatient, and pediatric care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough physical therapy evaluations, demonstrating technical proficiency and precision.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using appropriate interventions and equipment based on your specialty.
- Educate and train patients and their families regarding therapy processes and home exercises.
- Engage in peer review and contribute to performance enhancement initiatives.
- Complete documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
- Initiate and manage discharge planning for patients.
- Participate in ongoing education, attending a minimum of 20 hours annually and providing two hours of in-service training to staff each year.
- Offer comprehensive clinical experience to students in training.
- Serve as a mentor for junior staff members.
- Assist in orienting, instructing, and evaluating support personnel.
- Adhere to all compliance requirements related to your role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Requirements: Experience with patients suffering from neurological conditions is essential.
Minimum Experience: One year in a relevant setting.
Preferred: Certification in Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) for inpatient rehabilitation and CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
Manual Skills: Significant manual dexterity and motor coordination required.
Occupational Risks: Some occupational hazards present.
Physical Demands: Very heavy physical effort, with the potential to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Environmental Factors: Possible exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and biological materials.
