Job Summary: As a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart School, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuity of education for our students in the absence of their regular teacher. Your primary responsibility will be to execute the lesson plans of the regular teacher and adhere to the duties outlined in the school's policies and the Archdiocese of San Antonio's guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Support and adhere to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Follow the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom you are substituting.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and at the scheduled times.
- Establish and maintain order in the classroom.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
- Able to work well with others in the school community.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format.
- Skill in job-appropriate technology.
- Skill in critical thinking and planning.
Working Conditions:
- Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress.
- Required to work in standard school conditions.
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Required to lift or carry athletic equipment and supplies.
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations, including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous substituting or teaching experience preferred.
