Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the Pharmacy Department's mission to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver medications, supplies, and devices to nursing units, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
  • Fulfill medication orders and reorders for residents, verifying accuracy with pharmacists.
  • Process charges and credits for medications, supplies, and devices, maintaining accurate records.
  • Restock, organize, and inventory medications and supplies, adhering to storage and expiration guidelines.
  • Enter medication orders and resident information into the computer database, ensuring up-to-date profiles.
  • Prepare and package medications, maintaining logs for repackaging and inventory management.
  • Manage STAT boxes, emergency boxes, and IV start box medications, ensuring availability and accessibility.
  • Place orders with wholesalers and manufacturers, processing received items for accuracy and quality control.
  • Return recalled, outdated, or overstocked medications to wholesalers or manufacturers.
  • Maintain records of borrowed or loaned medications and supplies, keeping accounts current.
  • Review, sort, and file various materials, including confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the Pharmacy Department's mission and the facility's overall needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Virginia Pharmacy Technician registration is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is a plus.
  • Long-term care experience is a plus.
Additional Considerations
  • The selected candidate must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Two TB Skin Tests are required.
