Austin Texas, United States Visa Full time
Job Overview

The Payments sector is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field, characterized by a plethora of innovative solutions emerging in the marketplace. With a robust demand for new offerings in this domain, it presents an exhilarating opportunity for innovation.

As a frontrunner in the payments landscape, Visa is swiftly evolving into a technology-centric organization, making substantial investments in this arena.

If you are eager to immerse yourself in the vibrant payments sector, acquire knowledge swiftly, and create significant impacts, the Ecosystem & Operational Risk technology division, part of Visa's Value-Added Services business unit, is the perfect environment for you.

Within the Ecosystem & Operational Risk (EOR) technology group, we are tasked with developing Visa's state-of-the-art risk detection and mitigation capabilities, including measures to disrupt payment fraud.

This encompasses ideation, architectural design, development, and testing of products, applications, and services that equip Visa and its clients with solutions to identify, prevent, and mitigate various threats within the payment ecosystem.

We are on the lookout for inquisitive, innovative, and proficient technologists to enhance our team.

We are currently seeking a Lead Systems Architect who will spearhead and oversee several strategic initiatives within our organization.

As a Lead Systems Architect in the Ecosystem & Operational Risk technology team, you will be required to innovate around solution methodologies in a manner that delivers value in an agile, incremental approach to our clients, while simultaneously ensuring that overarching architectural objectives are achieved.

This role necessitates close collaboration with a global network of architects and business professionals across Visa to fulfill our goals.

In this capacity, you will provide strategic architectural guidance to development leaders and product partners on large-scale and intricate projects to address the dynamic needs of the global payments landscape.

Your technical expertise and industry insight in areas such as fraud prevention, payments, e-commerce, risk analysis, security, and digital payments will be instrumental in crafting advanced solutions that align with Visa's current and future requirements.

Your vision will be highly strategic, focusing on maintaining the reliability and functionality essential for both internal and external stakeholders.

If this opportunity resonates with you, we would be delighted to engage in further discussions and share more about our work culture and environment.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must be a technical leader capable of engaging in high-level discussions with business and technology partners, while also possessing the ability to think broadly about Visa's operations and drive solutions that enhance the safety and integrity of Visa's payment ecosystem.

The candidate will contribute innovative insights to Visa's strategic products and business initiatives. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make significant contributions to Visa's strategic offerings. The candidate should be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented, and possess excellent collaboration skills.

The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and a passion for leveraging Generative AI to enhance existing payment systems' risk detection and defensive mechanisms, as well as to innovate and address new challenges.

This candidate will utilize and advocate for code generation tools like GitHub Copilot to enhance efficiency in software development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical architecture leadership across multiple large-scale and complex projects and strategic initiatives.

• Coordinate with EOR technology groups and broader VAS architecture teams on architectural standards.

• Comprehend the proposed business architecture and assess the current baseline technical architecture for EOR applications.

• Collaborate with development leaders and business partners to establish a long-term architectural blueprint that meets technical requirements such as security, scalability, performance, and consistency.

• Form and oversee an architecture review group for the EOR technology team.

• Stay abreast of new technology trends, innovations, and requests from Visa's strategic partners.

• Integrate the use of Visa's shared platforms into the sub-function's platform strategy.

• Produce high-level architecture and design documentation for significant initiatives.

• Review and approve designs in the form of a Technical Architecture Design, which will serve as the foundation for sizing and the creation of detailed design artifacts.

• Ensure the team delivers proofs of concept (PoCs) and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs, and solutions as necessary.

• Apply expertise in architecture best practices to enable projects to be delivered with improved business outcomes and increased execution velocity.

• Demonstrate thought leadership through presentations and serve as a role model for development leads and engineers.

• Collaborate with peers across the technology organization on technology selection and deployment standards.

• Translate business problems into technical solutions while ensuring key business drivers are captured in collaboration with product stakeholders.

• Manage multiple projects and initiatives with varying timelines and demands.

• Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week, with a general guideline of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
