The Department of Medicinal Chemistry is focused on advancing scientific knowledge through research and the education of undergraduate and graduate students. Position Overview:

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty position. The ideal candidate will be proficient in teaching various chemistry disciplines, including organic, physical organic, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry, as well as computational studies. The faculty member will be responsible for delivering instruction in professional, graduate, and undergraduate programs, with a focus on fundamental sciences and their applications to various health conditions. Additionally, the role includes assisting faculty in developing research initiatives in their areas of expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: The faculty member will engage in teaching responsibilities across medicinal chemistry at multiple academic levels. Course assignments may include lectures in core medicinal chemistry courses and mentoring research projects for students enrolled in directed research.
  • Research: The faculty member is encouraged to establish a research program, aiming for publication in peer-reviewed journals and securing external funding. Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance research in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery are available.
  • Service: Participation in departmental, school, and university committees is expected, along with professional service in the field, such as peer review and conference organization.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, organic chemistry, computational chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Post-doctoral experience or advanced training in drug design and development for various diseases.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of teaching experience at the Pharm.D. and/or graduate level.
