Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant at Baptist Memorial Healthcare, you will provide personal care assistance under the direction of licensed personnel and/or administrator. Your responsibilities will include assessing patients, communicating effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians, and providing assistance in keeping efficient patient workflow.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients through data collection and communicate assessment information effectively.
  • Identify vital signs and lab alert values, and communicate values outside parameters with the patient's nurse/provider promptly and effectively.
  • Gather reports from staff, labs, imaging, pathology, and others, and make available to physicians as requested.
  • Provide assistance in keeping efficient patient workflow.
  • Provide assistance to physicians with procedures as well as specimen collection while maintaining quality control standards.
  • Set up rooms for procedures and exams, draw and label peripheral blood specimens according to hospital policy, and under the supervision of physicians enter the results in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide for patient safety through standard precautions and quality control methods.
  • Assist with coverage of the front desk by answering phones, accurately and thoroughly documenting in the EMR, and routing to the appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule appointments, register patients, schedule outpatient procedures/testing.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma. Graduate of approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience.
  • BLS required or completed within 14 days of hire. CMA certification required.
