Job Overview

Position Summary: The Pipe Installation Specialist is responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems, pipe supports, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. This role encompasses systems for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubrication, sprinkling, and various industrial production and processing applications.

Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to this position, with additional tasks assigned as necessary:

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of Regulatory Compliance in accordance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as company-specific and site-specific guidelines.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Utilizes cutting tools to prepare carbon steel and stainless steel for optimal welding joints.
  • Executes cutting and threading of pipes for secure threaded connections.
  • Employs saws and cutting torches to meet precise pipe specifications.
  • Installs piping and hanger systems securely.
  • Conducts repairs and maintenance on existing pipe systems and components.
  • Addresses challenges such as modifications to drawings, relocations, and interference from obstacles.

Supervisory Duties: The role requires the ability to install piping systems accurately, ensuring they are level, straight, and plumb. Competence in reading and interpreting pipe drawings and sketches is essential. The individual may oversee a small crew of 2-3 workers, being accountable for the quality and completion of work.

Qualifications: To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training is required.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and effectively communicating with groups.
  • Mathematical Competence: Proficient in calculating dimensions and quantities, including lengths, angles, and volumes, as well as applying basic math skills for fittings and pipe runs.
  • Reasoning Skills: Capable of solving practical problems and navigating various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Other Skills: This position necessitates emotional control and sustained attention.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be willing to travel as needed.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this role include regular standing, walking, and using hands for handling and manipulation. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: The work environment may involve exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high places. Employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels can be loud.
