Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunicator to join our team at the TOWN OF CORNELIUS. As a Telecommunicator, you will be responsible for receiving and processing emergency calls, dispatching officers, and providing critical communication services to the public.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Respond to emergency and routine calls, prioritizing tasks and making sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, using computer-assisted systems to track incidents and update databases.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, sharing information and coordinating responses to ensure public safety.
  • Provide administrative support, assisting with budget preparation, training new personnel, and maintaining equipment.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of local streets, layouts, and regulations, using this expertise to effectively communicate with callers.

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required;
* Experience in customer service, radio communications, and police records management preferred;
* Ability to work under pressure, remaining calm and composed in stressful situations;
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
* Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite;
* Certification as a DCI operator is desirable;
* Valid driver's license required;

**Working Conditions:**
This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure and with multiple priorities. The successful candidate must be able to manage stress effectively, maintain focus, and prioritize tasks efficiently.

**Salary Range:** $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
