About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Copper Splicer to join our team at VCI Construction. As a Copper Splicer, you will play a critical role in connecting America by completing general labor duties related to telecommunications construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks associated with the upgrade and splicing of Cables (710 Splicing)
  • Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment
  • Assemble equipment according to design specifications
  • Install/repair lines in trenches and/or pedestals using various hand tools
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
  • Perform tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of Fiber Cables
  • Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment
  • Assemble equipment according to design specifications
  • Install/repair Fiber lines in trenches and/or pedestals using various hand tools
  • Prepare paperwork to track daily production, and accurately record completed work on job site blueprints
Requirements
  • Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call
  • Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low
  • Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather, and adverse driving conditions
  • Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes, or other airborne pathogens
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT Physical, and background check
  • Must have a valid driver's license and transportation
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • 1-2 or more years of experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and documentation
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
