Job Overview

About the Role

This position involves working closely with the Stamping Management Team to revolutionize stamping processes and systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for launching and maintaining transfer dies, progressive, and deep drawing dies in a high-volume stamping operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Launch tools with close tolerances aimed at reducing costs or improving the speed or quality of a production operation.
  • Assist the Manager in determining proper methods and techniques used in repairing Customer Dies, making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Help define plans for shop-made components and check fixtures.
  • Contribute to creating work instructions for assembly/disassembly of tooling, documenting dimensional data.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams with engineers, production, programmers, or others to resolve machining-related problems.
  • Read and understand CAD, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of parts.
  • Provide dies ready for production, repair or manufacture parts to maintain production tooling.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, EDMs, lathes, and grinders.
  • Calculate and set up controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, cushion pressures, etc. for computerized machine control.
  • Validate parts on PG, UCF, or Parts Gauge quality of finished work pieces to specifications.
  • Maintain, lubricate, and clean molds, recommending improvements for cycle preventive maintenance.
  • Perform general maintenance on Toolroom equipment.
Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in Tool & Die, Progressive, Line Dies, Tandem Lines, etc.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Tool & Die in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices for New Product Launch, Die Maintenance, and Corrective Action Measures.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Thorough knowledge of tool room machines, inspection, measuring, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
