Position Overview
As a vital member of the Facility Resource Pool, you will provide clinical leadership for all facets of patient care within an acute inpatient environment, emphasizing patient and family-centered care.
Clinical Competency
Exhibit clinical proficiency by employing evidence-based practices and research throughout the nursing process, which includes:
- Assessment
- Planning
- Implementation
- Evaluation and Outcomes
Integrate knowledge of safety protocols, cost management, and quality enhancement into the nursing process. Recognize and prioritize patient, unit, and organizational needs, incorporating them into your nursing practice.
Compliance and Standards
Adhere to all organizational policies and compliance standards, including but not limited to:
- Licensure renewal
- Required training
- Employee health screenings
- Time and attendance regulations
- Dress code policies
- Patient confidentiality
- Infection control
- Medication administration
Demonstrate awareness of regulatory agency requirements and provide care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Flexibility
This role requires a willingness to float to various nursing units as needed. The acute inpatient setting may necessitate weekend, holiday, and on-call scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
Collect and analyze data to complete nursing assessments using appropriate standards and tools. Recognize subtle changes in patient status and respond effectively to interventions. Collaborate with healthcare team members to establish nursing priorities for patient care plans.
Care Planning
Develop individualized care plans based on the patient’s age and assessed needs, in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team. Regularly update care plans in response to changes in patient condition and communicate these updates effectively.
Direct Patient Care
Deliver direct care to assigned patients in alignment with established nursing plans. Perform specific tasks as per organizational policies and procedures within the RN scope of practice. Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and ensure completion.
Quality Assurance
Continuously monitor the quality of care provided, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and protocols. Utilize performance indicators to collect data and assess the effectiveness of nursing care.
Education and Advocacy
Identify and assess patient and family learning needs, providing education in a clear and understandable manner. Serve as an advocate for patients, coordinating care collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Professional Development
Reflect on your nursing practice in relation to professional standards and maintain competency through ongoing education and professional activities. Ensure timely completion of mandatory education and maintain professional licensure.
