Medical Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist to join our team at Graham Hospital District. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the laboratory, performing a variety of tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine tests and procedures, including blood counts, coagulation studies, and microscopic evaluations.
- Receive and process specimens, including centrifugation and preparation for testing.
- Consult with pathologists regarding difficult analyses or abnormal findings.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures.
- Perform quality control and maintain required records, reports, and statistics.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Adjust schedule to maintain staff coverage and participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
- Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry, or minimum of 8 semester hours of college chemistry and 8 hours of college biology, or professional registry.
- One year of general lab experience preferred, medical office or healthcare experience also preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood and other bodily fluids. The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict safety protocols to prevent infection and contamination.
