  • Shifts will alternate between:
    4am to 12pm
    11am to 7pm
The Culinary Service Associate is tasked with overseeing inmate labor as well as collaborating with team members in the food service operations within a correctional facility.

This role involves accurately and efficiently preparing and serving a variety of food items according to established work instructions and menus, while utilizing various food preparation tools and equipment.

Our ideal Culinary Service Associate possesses the following qualities:

- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changes swiftly

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food preparation and service shifts in the kitchen.

- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the timely preparation of quality meals according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions.

- Ensure proper storage and sanitation of all food items.

- Serve meals during scheduled times, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.

- Utilize kitchen tools and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes.

- Use appropriate utensils to serve portions that meet clients' nutritional requirements.

- Comply with all food safety regulations regarding sanitation, food handling, and storage.

- Train other culinary service staff.

- Maintain a clean work environment, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving tools.

- Follow the facility's uniform policy.

- Manage waste collection and ensure kitchen floors are kept clean from excess food and trash.

- Ensure the kitchen is clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing.

- Review proper portions and utensils for service.

- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for fellow employees and inmates.

This position involves physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must be able to remain on their feet for the majority of their scheduled shift.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, and candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred:
- Previous experience in institutional food service or restaurant settings is preferred.
