We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing routine tests in the medical laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood counts, chemistry tests, and microbiology tests.
- Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including microscopes and automated analyzers.
- Analyze and interpret test results, and report findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- Successful completion of a National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) program.
- Or, Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) certification and a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of full-time laboratory experience in an accredited laboratory.
- Experience in an accredited laboratory.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
