Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As an MRI Tech, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical imaging technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation to perform MRI studies
  • Prepare patients for exams, position them correctly, and set imaging parameters
  • Perform quality control procedures on MRI scanners and other related equipment
  • Record QA results and report any potential equipment-related problems to supervisors
  • Insert IV catheters, perform point-of-care testing, and instruct patients in MR safety procedures
  • Review outpatient and inpatient schedules to confirm exams have been properly protocolled and reviewed for potential contraindications
  • Act as a final checkpoint for patient safety and protocol clarification
  • Communicate with radiologists for protocol clarification when necessary
  • Use designated department protocols and report any issues to site supervisors and/or Quality Assurance Managers
  • Mentor new staff and fellow technologists as needed
  • Adhere to MGH 'Good-To-Go' policies and practices
Requirements
  • ARRT (MR) certification
  • Completion of a Medical Imaging Program
  • BLS certification
  • Advanced MR certification required within 18 months of hire date
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English
  • Mental/visual ability to operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to transfer patients to MR scan tables and push tables from prep rooms to exam rooms
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients to stretchers, etc.
