Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housing Specialist to join our team at the Park Slope Women's Shelter. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing housing-related support and services to clients, including conducting housing searches, developing housing plans, and coordinating with community-based organizations and local landlords.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison with outside organizations to facilitate access to education, healthcare, and social services.
- Assist clients in achieving their housing-related goals by identifying and referring them to appropriate services within and outside CAMBA.
- Conduct housing searches and develop housing plans to support clients in achieving permanent housing.
- Develop and facilitate housing workshops to educate clients on housing-related topics.
- Provide individualized counseling on housing-related topics and coordinate with other social services staff to ensure comprehensive support.
- Establish linkages with community-based organizations and local landlords to secure housing opportunities for clients.
- Review and approve housing packages to ensure appropriateness of housing providers.
- Escort clients to appointments and ensure that quality housing placements are achieved.
- Follow up with clients to ensure stability and success in their housing placements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (e.g., B.A., B.S.W.) and two years of applicable experience, or equivalent experience.
- May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified and certified in overdose prevention.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
CAMBA offers a competitive salary range of $43,000-$46,000 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid time off, and paid holidays.
