About the RoleThis float position will support doctors of optometry in various locations, ensuring patients receive high-quality ophthalmic care.
Responsibilities- Patient Support: Assist with recording medical and visual history, reviewing clinical information, and preparing for doctor-patient interactions.
- Triage and Communication: Manage phone calls, assess patient concerns, and direct them to the appropriate personnel or resources.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform preliminary testing, administer eye-drops as ordered by doctors, and assist with therapeutic procedures.
- Instrument Maintenance: Ensure diagnostic and therapeutic equipment is clean, accurate, and functioning properly.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Manage doctor schedules, book appointments, and coordinate patient care with other KP departments and services.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Experience: Minimum two years of experience in an optometric or ophthalmic practice, or completion of a JCAHPO accredited program.
- Certifications: Paraoptometric Assistant Certificate, Ophthalmic Technician Certificate, or equivalent within 24 months of hire.
