Medical Assistant-Senior

Job Summary
UT Health San Antonio is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant-Senior to join our team. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in an outpatient clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with clinical and laboratory procedures, maintain equipment, and provide direct patient care.
- Administer common medications according to unit guidelines and providers' orders.
- Support the documentation of patients as dictated by the physician or provider.
- Manage patient appointments, answer messages, and handle medication refills.
- Prepare charts, provide test results, and communicate patient information to physicians.
- Handle phone calls, triage calls, and facilitate patient needs.
- Provide in-service training and precept Medical Assistants.
- Participate in developing best practices in clinical workflows.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate the ability to support the mission, vision, and patient promise throughout all interactions.
- Communicate effectively, written and verbally.
- Analytical thinking is required to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements.
- Participate as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Education and Certification
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training/experience in healthcare is preferred.
- CPR certification is required.
