Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse - Advanced Skills

Kindred Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled ICU Registered Nurse - Advanced Skills to join our team at Kindred Hospital Chicago North.

As an ICU Registered Nurse - Advanced Skills, you will provide quality patient care to critically ill patients, through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. You will serve as a patient advocate at all times, supervising the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department.
  • Assess the patient on admission within the required time frame, making referrals to other disciplines as necessary.
  • Develop a nursing care plan for assigned patients on admission and update the plan of care as needed, ensuring the plan is discussed and developed as a result of the coordination of patient and family and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document patient admission assessment and reassessments, patient care plans, and other pertinent information completely in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to patient change in condition, such as cardiac rhythm, respiratory distress, GI bleed, pulmonary emboli/edema, diabetic ketoacidosis, adverse drug reaction, and blood transfusion reaction, etc.
  • Administer medications with verbalized knowledge of the action, side effects, correct dosages, and route according to ICU policies and procedures.
  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Participate in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluations of nursing staff.
Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ICU Registered Nurse - Advanced Skills with:

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
  • BCLS certification and ACLS required.
  • Minimum one year training and experience in Critical Care.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
