Senior Radiology Nurse

Position Overview
The Registered Nurse in the Interventional Radiology department plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients. This position requires independent planning and execution of nursing responsibilities in alignment with physician directives and established protocols, adhering to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve ACLS certification within the first year of employment and maintain it according to national standards for nurses involved in moderate sedation.
- Possess a minimum of two years' experience in medical-surgical nursing or a related field, with at least one year in cardiac/critical care or radiology preferred.
- Prepare patients for procedures by providing education, obtaining necessary lab work, performing EKGs, initiating venous access, and administering medications as required.
- Communicate procedure details and provide age-appropriate pre-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
- Administer moderate sedation during invasive procedures and MRIs as directed by the radiologist.
- Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and oxygen saturation, documenting hemodynamic pressures as necessary.
- Assist physicians with pharmacologic stress testing in conjunction with cardiac imaging, monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
- Report any changes in patient conditions and participate in emergency interventions as needed.
- Provide post-procedure care and instructions to patients.
- Ensure the maintenance of supplies and equipment in the department.
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a valid RN license in Georgia in good standing.
- A minimum of two years of full-time RN experience following orientation or residency training.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Additional required certifications may vary by clinical unit.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- National Certification in a Clinical Specialty is preferred.
- Other preferred attributes may vary by clinical unit.
