Job Title: Physical Therapist

BAMSI Early Intervention (BEI) is a program for infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old) who experience development delays or are at risk for developmental delay.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform functional assessments with families
  • Participate in standardized evaluations with an interdisciplinary team
  • Conduct informal assessments of family and child's needs
  • Develop, write, and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) for infants and young children
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and provide consultation, training, and supervision to other staff members
  • Provide center and home-based services, group, and individual treatment
  • Design and implement appropriate home programs for families
  • Complete reports, record progress, and interpret reports to families and other staff members
  • Plan and participate in specialized child groups
  • Fulfill electronic health record-keeping requirements
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and training, as well as other staff development activities
  • Provide support and assistance to parents regarding child development and learning, advocacy, and community awareness
  • Provide consultation and education to staff and families regarding general or case-specific psychosocial issues
  • Work with community resources and referral sources for children and families, providing input and/or consultation to other agencies to aid in defining needs
  • Serve as an advocate for parents and child's first 766 evaluations when leaving the Early Childhood Intervention program
Qualifications:
  • Massachusetts license as a Physical Therapist is required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of residence and have own means of transportation
  • Must have accurate or correctable auditory and visual abilities to observe children and maintain safety
  • On an infrequent basis, must be able to respond rapidly to safeguard children during an emergency, including threats of fire, disaster, or imminent danger
  • Emergency response may require running, carrying, or lifting children
  • Must be able to react quickly to prevent injury or harm to a child
  • On a moderate to frequent basis, must have the agility to move quickly to reach a child who may need assistance
  • Must be able to stoop, squat, sit, or otherwise position self to closely interact with children
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stretch, and participate in play
