Position: Assistant to the Athletic Director for Travel and Intramurals
The Assistant to the Athletic Director for Travel and Intramurals plays a vital role in the operational aspects of the athletic department. This position encompasses a variety of administrative responsibilities, including:
- Planning and organizing travel arrangements for athletic teams.
- Assisting with the processing of invoices and billing.
- Coordinating summer camp activities.
- Supporting home game management efforts.
- Overseeing year-round intramural programs.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director.
This role necessitates frequent travel commitments.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in sports management, physical education, athletic coaching, recreation, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of successful experience in a collegiate athletic program, preferably at the NAIA level.
- Ability to serve as a positive Christian role model and mentor for student-athletes, contributing to their spiritual growth.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines efficiently and effectively.
- Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations for developing competitive sports programs.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- A valid California driver's license and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight trips.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access).
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and proactive.
General Expectations:

- Demonstration of Simpson University values in all duties performed.

- Support for other departmental needs as required.
- Completion of additional duties as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of athletic team travel.
- Oversee the development and management of university intramural programs.
- Recruit and organize intramural staff.
- Provide administrative support within the athletics department.
- Assist with athletic fundraising and alumni engagement activities.
- Foster a collaborative work environment with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Represent Simpson University with integrity and professionalism.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Physical Requirements:
This position may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions during events, as well as indoor work in gymnasiums or office settings. Physical tasks may include standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and driving.
Salary Range: $20.00 hourly
