We are seeking a skilled and motivated Prep Cook to join our team at JFK Airport. As a Prep Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality food for our clients and their passengers.
Responsibilities- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service, including chopping vegetables, slicing, and preparing sauces
- Cook buffet items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer and follow executive or sous chef's instructions
- Clean up station and manage leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure food is served simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry's best practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multi-task and stay focused under pressure
- Prioritize and delegate tasks in a timely manner
- Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and motivate team
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
- Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
- Ability to work as a member of a team focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Equivalent professional experience
- Degree in Culinary Arts (desired)
Competitive pay rate: $23.54-$24 per hour
