Position Overview:

Beacon Hill is on the lookout for a skilled professional to fill the role of Editor. This position focuses on transforming intricate economic research into engaging and comprehensible content. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive editorial assistance for research publications, showcasing a solid grasp of economic concepts and their applications.
  • Utilize strong editing skills to enhance the accessibility of research outputs, including highly technical documents, for diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with economists to comprehend intricate topics and guarantee that publications effectively convey the intended message.
  • Balance feedback and ideas to improve the clarity and precision of research outputs while maintaining compliance with quality and style guidelines.
  • Ensure the clarity and accessibility of research materials, tailoring content to suit the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Edit and occasionally create content for web resources or special initiatives, ensuring consistent style and clear communication of key research insights.
  • Stay updated on economic trends, financial policies, and relevant issues to maintain the accuracy and relevance of content.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and protocols in all publications; collaborate effectively with Public Affairs, copy editors, and design teams.
  • Develop and manage publication timelines, coordinating with authors and subject matter experts, serving as the primary contact for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the department.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required; an advanced degree in economics, business, journalism, or English is preferred. A strong background in Economics is advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in editing complex or technical content for broader audiences, with a demonstrated ability to simplify intricate ideas.

Skills: Outstanding editorial skills, effective communication abilities (both verbal and written), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with LaTeX and Overleaf is a plus.

Knowledge Areas: A solid understanding of economic principles and current issues, with a keen interest in economics and public policy.

Additional Qualities: Proven ability to manage deadlines and balance various projects with meticulous attention to detail.
