Multifamily Maintenance Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Multifamily Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of apartment homes, buildings, and grounds.
Job DescriptionThis role involves a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Performing repairs and maintenance on various systems, such as plumbing, electrical, safety, and security systems, HVAC systems, and appliances;
- Troubleshooting issues with flooring, drywall, and other building components;
- Cleaning and maintaining common areas, including sweeping, mopping, and garden/yard upkeep;
- Painting (interior and exterior);
- Coordinating and/or assisting in unit turnover activities, including performing maintenance inspections and repairs on vacant apartments to ensure proper operating conditions and appearance upon move-in;
- Maintaining all maintenance shops and storage rooms in an orderly fashion and in compliance with safety regulations;
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, cleaning, painting, and repairing various systems and equipment;
- Responding to emergency situations, including after-hours calls and weekend rotations;
- Ensuring properties are maintained in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements;
- Providing excellent customer service and interacting effectively with residents, colleagues, and vendors;
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting relevant information to management.
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within residential property management or a related field;
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate required; technical school and/or certification preferred;
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, current motor vehicle insurance, and an operable vehicle that meets FPI's Driving Standards and Personal Vehicle Use policy;
- Ability to wear a respirator and comply with FPI's facial hair policy;
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English;
- Basic computer skills, including email and internet use.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant work experience in multifamily property management or a related field;
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems;
- Experience with painting, carpentry, and appliance repair;
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
