- Function as a mentor and resource to unit staff, providing oversight for students, new employees, and preceptorships.
- Lead patient and family-centered care standards, mentoring others regarding specialty populations and auditing plans of care.
- Maintain ongoing interactions with patients, families, and staff to improve patient care through leader rounding and ensure effective collaboration with other departments.
- Drive department service standards and activities to improve patient satisfaction on the unit-based scorecard.
- Model the standards of care related to the nursing process, participating in meeting and improving nurse-sensitive quality indicators and patient safety goals.
- Coordinate nursing care throughout the shift, considering patient acuity, staff skill level, and safety to ensure that our duty to our patients can be met.
- Facilitate seamless patient flow to/from/through the department, leading the delivery of quality family-centered care throughout the continuum of care.
- Implement department strategies to achieve financial targets on the unit-based scorecard, mentoring others to do the same through timely documentation of care and optimizing efficiency.
- Attend daily care coordination rounds to facilitate patient progression and ensure that follow-up has been implemented on any concerns or issues identified by the team.
- Provide input into unit resource utilization, including unit capital and operational budget needs, and oversee shift-by-shift resource utilization.
- Foster identification and implementation of innovative solutions for practice changes to improve patient care or unit operations, leading and/or participating in unit projects and shared governance activities.
- Investigate and incorporate evidence-based practices, supporting change initiatives and adapting to unexpected changes.
- Expand individual nursing knowledge and coach staff to grow in knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes, serving as a clinical resource and developing informational/educational resources and programs.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing
Work Experience: Twenty four months of clinical nursing experience with demonstration of progressive leadership skills
Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days OR RN-Temp - Registered Nurse - Tempor
