We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our dietary department at Prairie View Healthcare Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing healthy, delicious, and fun meals for our residents. Our enhanced dining program provides culinary excellence, and we believe that every meal should be a highlight of the day.
Key Responsibilities:- Menu Planning: Prepare pre-planned cycle menus in an efficient and effective manner, ensuring that all meals meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Food Preparation: Perform food preparation tasks as assigned, including cooking, baking, and plating.
- Quality Control: Determine if the food prepared is of the highest possible quality in taste and flavor, and assist in planning cooking schedules to ensure that all meals are ready on time.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain and improve standards of food storage, preparation, and service, ensuring that all food is handled and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Supply Management: Assist in checking food supplies on food order forms and ensure that all necessary ingredients are on hand.
- Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
- Education and Experience: Required: Current Food Handlers card (or ability to obtain one) issued by local Health Department. Preferred: Prior cooking experience in a skilled nursing environment.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods of food preparation and storage. Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates competency in operating kitchen equipment. Moderate to heavy lifting (50-pound maximum), bending, reaching, and stooping.
