Seafood Sales Associate

Job Summary

As a Seafood Sales Associate at Hannaford Supermarkets, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the highest quality seafood products are available to our customers. Your responsibilities will include developing and expanding your knowledge of seafood product storage and preparation techniques, observing and following all company policies and established standard practices, and maintaining a neat and well-groomed personal appearance at all times.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and expand knowledge of seafood product storage and preparation techniques to provide the highest quality products to our customers.
* Observe and follow all company policies and established standard practices to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Maintain a neat and well-groomed personal appearance at all times to provide a positive representation of Hannaford Supermarkets.
* Assist in special projects and perform other functions as assigned by supervision to support the success of the seafood department.
* Assist in training other associates when assigned to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
* Build and maintain ice walls to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
* Work within our company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity and efficiency.
* Support company safety standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

* Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills to provide exceptional customer service and promote sales.
* Effective interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment to support the success of the seafood department.
* Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.

Physical Requirements

* Tolerate working in extreme cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in an area surrounded by freezers and coolers filled with ice to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Lift cases of products weighing up to 50 lb. frequently to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Meet established volume activity standards to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
* Frequent reaching, grasping and lifting of products with arms fully extended: waist to shoulder height to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Use hands to feel objects, use knives to open boxes/cases or to prepare and clean fish to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Frequent bending to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and food products to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Preferred Requirements

* Provide outstanding, friendly customer service to promote sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Communicate with and assist customers in selection of product to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Cut, filet and display seafood to ensure a high-quality product is available to our customers.
* Process merchandise properly, paying careful attention to rotation of products according to prescribed standards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Perform assigned tasks such as replenishing merchandise, preparation of food products or setting up displays etc. to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
* Maintain accurate, neat records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Package and display products according to customer demands to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment according to company policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
