Job Summary

IMT Precision, Inc. is a leading contract manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the aerospace, medical, and semiconductor capital equipment industry. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector III to join our team in Hayward, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to specification using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection.
  • Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.
  • Work off-shift, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.

Essential Duties:

  • Blueprint reading, shop math, and thorough knowledge of CMM measurements.
  • Inspect first-piece parts from manufacturing work centers and analyze defect causes.
  • Collect measurement data for use in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and/or Final Inspection Reports (FIRs).
  • Perform roving in-process inspection on the manufacturing floor.
  • Review job traveler to ensure upstream operations have been completed and signed off.
  • Complete Discrepant Material Report (DMR) forms for rejected parts and perform analysis of root cause.
  • Inspect incoming purchased parts for compliance to specifications.
  • Inspect outgoing material for packaging and conformance to requirements.
  • Perform surface plate and comparator setups.
  • Fill out and file required reports, logs, databases, forms, and documents.
  • Report process control concerns to the Inspection Team Leader or Quality Manager.

Requirements:

  • 5 years minimum experience performing in-process and final inspection, preferably in a machining, automotive, or aerospace business.
  • Thorough knowledge of GD&T.
  • CMM operation and programming on CMM Manager Software required.
  • Portable articulated CMM Arm operation and programming on FARO Arm - CAM2 is a plus.
  • Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools, including height gauge, micrometer, caliper scale (linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards.
  • Familiar with welding inspection is a plus.
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to use a microscope to perform inspections.
  • Independent; can work with limited supervision and direction.
  • NPI or R&D experience preferred.
