As a key member of our perioperative team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of providing award-winning healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the delivery of individualized peri-operative registered nursing care under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician or a registered professional nurse.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to assure quality patient care.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment.
  • Participate in surgical counts (sponge, needle, and instruments), per policy.
  • Adhere to Policy and Procedures, all regulatory standards, and Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participate in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
  • Participate in unit educational activities.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor.
  • Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

  • Obtain and/or maintain registration with the VA Dept of Health Professions.
