About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Truck Mechanic to join our team at Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems. As a Heavy Truck Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment, including hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic equipment to research and complete repairs, and troubleshoot issues with equipment and vehicles.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Complete preventative maintenance repairs, including replacing or rotating tires, lubricating and replacing vehicle components, and performing electrical system repairs and cooling system maintenance.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed, including work orders and electronic documentation.
  • Training and Development: Partner with our service manager to learn new skills and techniques, and participate in vendor-exclusive training and hands-on coaching.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2 years of experience with hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses, as well as MIG and stick welding, and automotive electrical experience.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills: Possess working mechanical knowledge, including the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license and ability to pass a DOT physical, including drug screening.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach, and lift and move more than 50 lbs. without assistance.
