GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for delivering comprehensive mental health services to adult patients in various settings. This role involves working with individuals who experience chronic mental health issues and may have complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adult patients.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring effective monitoring for side effects and treatment efficacy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement discharge and aftercare plans for patients transitioning to community care.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic assessments as necessary.
- Document patient interactions and treatment plans in accordance with established electronic medical record standards.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and mental health resources.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on psychiatric mental health.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a psychiatric-mental health Nurse Practitioner.
- Eligibility for Federal DEA Registration and participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
- Possession of a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Certificate.
Additional Information
This position requires on-site presence at the designated facility.
