GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Northwest Outdoor Science School plays a vital role in delivering healthcare services to students. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, performing health screenings, offering health counseling, treating minor injuries, administering medications, and facilitating referrals for more extensive medical care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This position is based at one of several outdoor education sites and may require providing health services to students across multiple locations, adapting to the evolving health needs of the student population.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid LPN license issued by the appropriate regulatory body
  3. Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, with the ability to obtain additional certifications within a specified timeframe
  4. A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting, such as a hospital or community health environment
  5. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for job-related duties

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience in a K-12 educational environment
  2. Bilingual and bicultural skills relevant to the community served

The LPN will be responsible for:
A. Delivering direct care in accordance with established health protocols and individualized health plans.
B. Administering medications as per established policies and procedures.
C. Participating in mandatory health screening programs and maintaining accurate records.
D. Collaborating with educational staff and parents regarding student health needs.
E. Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in student health records.
F. Complying with all relevant health and safety regulations.

This position requires overnight availability, with accommodations provided during the work week. The role is integral to ensuring the health and well-being of students in an outdoor educational setting.
