Patient Access Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services by providing exceptional patient registration and eligibility services.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Registration: Assist in accomplishing the work of the department by receiving and relaying incoming/outgoing messages, maintaining appointments and clinic availability listings, and reviewing data for completeness and accuracy.
- Interviews and Eligibility: Interview patients to obtain information to determine eligibility and initiate a new health record or reactivate a retired record, collect and verify third-party eligibility coverage, and prepare charts.
- Data Entry and Reporting: Maintain patient confidentiality, access the correct medical record number on each patient, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Patient Benefits Coordinators to identify patients who may be eligible for third-party resources and perform other duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalency plus 2 years of experience in the healthcare profession.
- Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of the eligibility requirements of the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System program, knowledge of medical terminology, interview techniques, and the Privacy Act of 1974.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in the practical use of electronic systems to provide general clerical office support and knowledge of patient registration systems.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, and excellent social interaction skills.
This is a PRN (as needed) position, and shifts may be during daytime hours or overnight. The qualified candidate will be responsible for covering a shift or another type of specific situation during periods of short staffing or the need to complete a particular task.
Required to work a minimum of three shifts every 30 days.
