Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Family Partner I to join our team. As a Family Partner I, you will work closely with caregivers and families to provide support, coaching, and advocacy. Your primary goal will be to empower families to make informed decisions and develop plans that meet their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide peer support to parents and caregivers, utilizing your personal and professional experience to inform your approach.
  2. Offer information and guidance on agency processes and procedures, including the Family Partner I role.
  3. Participate in family events, activities, and recognition events to foster a sense of community and connection.
  4. Coach families to make decisions and develop plans based on their needs, and to use their voice to direct treatment.
  5. Collaborate with Child and Family team (CFT) members to ensure parents and family members have access, voice, and choice within the process.
  6. Identify community connections for internal teams and provide consultation and support to ensure a shared understanding between families and providers.
  7. Provide non-judgmental, culturally informed support to parents and caregivers.
  8. Explore, identify, and work to (re)establish natural support systems as needed, and link families with community connections and resources.
  9. Model and coach effective coping techniques for parents and caregivers.
  10. Provide a caregiver's perspective in agency service support structures.
  11. Assist with the design and implementation of internal and external trainings about the parent perspective.
  12. Utilize conflict resolution skills and participate in continuous learning to improve engagement with youth and families.
  13. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within agency standards.
  14. Hold staff accountable to service delivery principles related to family voice, choice, access, pace, and process.
  15. Participate in service improvement and development efforts.
  16. Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support departmental needs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to articulate the experience and perspective of a parent/caregiver or relative of a child with complex needs. Three years of experience as a parent or caregiver of a special needs child is also required. Therapeutic crisis intervention and agency training are preferred.
