We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at HonorHealth. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our orthopedic specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general front and back office support to our orthopedic specialists, including escorting patients to exam rooms and maintaining clean, neat, and well-stocked exam rooms.
- Take a proactive approach to utilizing available resources to best serve the patient population, working in a team model to improve the patient's experience, create better communication and access to care, and support processes that will improve patient satisfaction.
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients, escort patients to the examining room, obtain a brief history, document chief complaint, take vital signs, and prep the patient for exam.
- Assist the physician/clinician on exams and any special procedures, including travel to off-site locations to perform diagnostic testing and assist in physical exam components, TB testing, injections, phlebotomy, and others.
- Administer and record injections and TB testing under the supervision and order of the physician, perform venipuncture and obtain specimens, and perform CLIA waived lab tests.
- Perform office procedures, including but not limited to, PFT, UDS, EBT, EKG, fit testing, within the scope of practice as directed by provider.
- Receive telephone calls from patients, pharmacy, and others, document and relay information to provider for action, and phone pharmacy with approved medication orders/refills.
- Perform a variety of front office duties as needed, including reception, telephone, chart maintenance, insurance forms, and scheduling.
- Organize and communicate with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing, and specialist referrals, and provide appropriate referrals to case management for employees.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Completion of a MA training program Required
- Licenses and Certifications: Completion of an approved training program OR completion of an unapproved training program and successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute as described by the Arizona Administrative Code (Chapter 16 – Arizona Medical Board - R and R OR completes a United States Armed Forces medical services training program Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) BLS Required
- Fingerprint Clearance Card - State Have a current Fingerprint Clearance card, or within seven (7) working days after employment shall apply and be eligible for a Fingerprint Clearance Card (Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites ONLY) Required
