Overview of Responsibilities
The House Parents provide essential care for individuals facing disabilities, chronic health issues, cognitive challenges, or age-related concerns. They facilitate social engagement and companionship for residents in various healthcare environments under the guidance of licensed professionals.
Key Responsibilities
· Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by the organization.
· Follow the nursing policies and procedures of the client facility.
· Ensure confidentiality regarding patient services and facility operations in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
· Effectively communicate relevant information to appropriate staff members.
· Offer companionship services, including spending time with residents or reading to them.
· Deliver patient services in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner that acknowledges cultural diversity and age appropriateness, ensuring the preservation of autonomy, rights, and dignity.
· Record observations of clients in the designated system at the end of each shift.
Required Qualifications
· A minimum of six months of experience as a caregiver or companion in a healthcare environment.
· Background in Behavioral Health (Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health, or Substance Abuse) is preferred.
· Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be taken into account.
Skills and Competencies
· Must be self-motivated and capable of working independently.
· Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
· Proficient in understanding and executing oral and written instructions and procedures.
· Strong reading comprehension skills along with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
