The RN Treatment Nurse plays a crucial role in managing the skin and wound care of residents, focusing on both prevention and effective treatment of skin conditions. This position adheres to the established nursing Care Plan and makes necessary modifications as resident care requirements and physician directives evolve. The Treatment Nurse also supports the responsibilities of the staff RN, LPN, or certified nursing assistants as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate skin care strategies for residents.
  • Identify, manage, and treat various skin disorders.
  • Conduct evaluations through observation and inspection methods.
  • Collaborate with the Care Planning Team to develop comprehensive Care Plans.
  • Document and provide treatment for skin disorders in accordance with established wound care protocols, while monitoring ongoing skin and wound treatments.
  • Oversee the implementation of preventive measures, including regular inspections, turning, and positioning of residents.
  • Adjust treatment plans to align with the individual needs of residents, following established medical practices, regulatory guidelines, and facility policies.
  • Educate residents and caregivers on prevention strategies and methods to enhance overall health and psychosocial well-being.
Additionally, perform supportive tasks that are essential to the primary functions of the role, which may be modified based on individual circumstances. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and possess a current nursing license to practice as a registered nurse in the state. Previous experience in skin care is preferred.
