Job Summary

The Pharmacy Professional will be responsible for ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations in assigned areas. This includes analyzing and interpreting reports, implementing and monitoring loss prevention and safety controls, overseeing safety, operational, and quality assurance reviews, developing and implementing action plans, and providing direction and guidance on executing organization programs and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the implementation of community outreach programs and encourage associates to serve as good members of the community.
  2. Ensure confidentiality of information, documentation, and assigned records as required by organization policies and local, state, and federal guidelines.
  3. Model, enforce, and provide direction and guidance to associates on proper patient service approaches and techniques to ensure patients' needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved within organization guidelines and standards.
  4. Prepare the pharmacy for compliance with HRSA, OSV, OPA, County, and Joint Commissions audits or any additional type of audit or review.
  5. Ensure hazardous waste and expired medications are treated accordingly with local, state, and federal regulations.
  6. Fulfill health center-used medication and med room orders in a timely manner to ensure prompt care to patients' health needs.
  7. Process returning non-picked up prescriptions to stock in a timely manner to inhibit any third-party insurance fraud.
  8. Provide patient care by processing and accurately dispensing orders, administering immunizations, counseling patients, and maintaining confidential information, controlled medication, and required documentation.
  9. Follow pharmacy and therapeutics committees policies, procedures, and formulary decisions, and follow any protocols that facilitate prescription refills approvals to ensure no disruption of patient care.
  10. Ensure compliance with state-approved programs that maximize pharmacist clinical roles upon physicians' standing orders or collaborative agreements.
  11. Network internally and externally, build trusting, collaborative relationships and alliances with others, inside and outside of the organization.
  12. Order, receive, and account for medication in accordance with generally accepted practices and corporate policies, when applicable.
  13. Responsible for reviewing expiration dates and removing and returning medication near expiration to manufacturers or suppliers as usual and customarily accepted.
  14. Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Maintain HIPAA compliance by ensuring adherence to all HIPAA regulations and requirements, treating all member information confidentially.
  2. Learn and use the Electronic Health Record and Practice Management System and its components, as required by job functions and highlighted in Policies and Procedures.
  3. Participate in the Patient-Centered Health Home Model at Omni Family Health.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a completion of an accredited pharmacy program with certification/degree, a minimum of 1 year of pharmacy-related experience, and a valid, active California pharmacy license. Additionally, the candidate should be CPR certified and have basic typing skills.

The candidate should also have an interest in working in a community health center setting, completion of ACPE-accredited immunization training program when needed, and basic computer skills with the ability to enter and locate information on a computer. The candidate should be able to present information to small or large groups and individuals, effectively communicate in person or by using telecommunication equipment, and create documents, enter data into spreadsheets, and generate/write memoranda, notices, and reports.

The candidate should also be able to visually inspect equipment to ensure good working order, move through narrow, confined spaces, and perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
