Job Summary

The InsideHigherEd team is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach courses in Engineering and Engineering Technology. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in a variety of teaching modalities, including in-person, online, and blended classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Provide classroom instruction and develop curriculum for courses in Engineering and Engineering Technology.
  • Course Development: Revises and develops new curriculum to meet the needs of students and the department.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develops and implements assessment activities to measure student learning outcomes and evaluates student performance.
  • Online Course Development: Develops and teaches online courses to meet the needs of students.
  • Student Recruitment and Advising: Recruits, advises, and evaluates students to ensure their academic success.
  • Grant Writing: Prepares and writes grants for the Department of Engineering to secure funding for departmental initiatives.
  • Departmental and Campus Involvement: Participates in departmental, campus, and college committees to contribute to the development of academic programs and policies.
  • Course Delivery: Teaches engineering and engineering technology courses college-wide and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Engineering or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering from a regional accredited institution.
  • Communication Skills: Possesses excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to use innovative teaching techniques.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with distance learning and willingness to use technology tools in instruction, as well as the ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with students and colleagues in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment and must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum two (2) years college teaching experience.
  • Industrial Experience: Minimum two (2) years related industrial experience.
  • Computing and Electronics Knowledge: Computing and Electronics knowledge highly desirable.
