Position Overview

The Chief Academic Officer is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive delivery of educational services within the institution. This role encompasses leadership, management, and oversight in the strategic planning, development, execution, and assessment of the College's educational initiatives. As a pivotal figure in the College's strategic planning processes, the Chief Academic Officer acts as the primary instructional leader and reports directly to the institution's President.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties of the Chief Academic Officer include:
  1. Ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of existing educational programs while collaborating with faculty and administrative staff to develop new instructional offerings that uphold the highest standards of excellence.
  2. Leading the evaluation and enhancement processes for the educational unit's strategic planning.
  3. Upholding curriculum, program, and faculty credentialing standards, while ensuring compliance with all accreditation and agency requirements to maintain integrity across all instructional formats.
  4. Supervising faculty and instructional personnel, advising the President on the selection of qualified faculty and instructional support staff.
  5. Chairing various committees, including the Professional Development and Academic Committee, as designated by the President.
  6. Designing and evaluating mentoring and orientation programs for new full-time and adjunct faculty to ensure effective integration into the instructional framework.
  7. Conducting regular meetings with faculty to foster collaboration and communication.
  8. Developing strategies in partnership with Student Services to enhance student retention and graduation rates.
  9. Creating the academic calendar and preparing a projected course schedule for the upcoming years.
  10. Monitoring and analyzing student data to drive continuous improvement in educational outcomes.
  11. Collaborating with Workforce Development and Adult Education divisions to forge strong partnerships with local businesses for training and certification opportunities.
  12. Ensuring adherence to institutional policies and guidelines from all governing bodies and accrediting agencies.
  13. Providing leadership in maintaining accreditation standards for instructional services.
  14. Reviewing faculty evaluations and facilitating professional growth initiatives.
  15. Leading library and media services in alignment with the College's educational mission.
  16. Demonstrating ethical behavior and integrity in all professional interactions.
  17. Participating in college committees and campus activities as required.
  18. Performing additional duties as assigned by the President.
Qualifications
  1. A Master's Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  2. A minimum of three years of teaching experience at a post-secondary institution is required.
  3. At least three years of administrative experience in higher education is required.
  4. Experience in curriculum development within career technical education and workforce development is essential.
  5. Proven experience working with regional accrediting agencies is required.
