About the Position:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Warehouse, Fabrication, and Shipping/Transportation Departments. This position is highly visible, and the AWM is expected to set the standard and model the expectation for associate behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and develop new hires, as well as retrain current associates
  • Develop and deliver personal improvement plans for team members, as necessary
  • Lead projects in new warehouse technology to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Cover for Supervisors and the Warehouse Manager as needed
  • Identify and report quality, housekeeping, and safety concerns
  • Ensure machines are operating properly and safely
  • Comply with and uphold all EMS policies, including OSHA regulations
  • Communicate and collaborate with Supervisors to identify areas needing improvement
  • Evaluate processes and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Employ a positive attitude and serve as a role model for employees

Requirements:

  • Possess expert knowledge of all processes associated with receiving, inventory control, fabrication, and shipping
  • Lift and carry heavy material up to 50 lbs.; climb on and off a flatbed trailer

The Assistant Warehouse Manager must promote a positive attitude and conduct themselves in a professional, ethical, customer-oriented manner, consistent with Eastern Metal Supply policies. All work must be accurate, organized, and accomplished on time. Any problems or recommendations will be noted and discussed as needed and in a timely manner.
