Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Judicial Staff Attorney to join our team at Oakland County. As a key member of our judicial staff, you will be responsible for performing complex legal research, writing reports, and making recommendations regarding judicial action in domestic relations and juvenile court matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to provide informed recommendations to judges
  • Write clear and concise reports and opinions on complex legal issues
  • Assist in coordinating chambers operations and ensuring compliance with statutes, case law, and court rules
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to judges, attorneys, and self-represented litigants
  • Act as a liaison between the court, litigants, attorneys, and court personnel
Requirements
  • Be licensed to practice law and maintain membership in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable position, preferably in a court or legal setting
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of civil, criminal, and Family Court procedural law
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
