Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Resident Activity Coordinator to join our team at East Lansing Opco LLC. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for organizing and participating in person-specific activity programming, including one-to-one intervention, small group facilitation, and large group presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the resident activity director as needed, providing support and guidance to ensure the success of our activity programs.
  • Utilize the environment to provide both comfort and stimulation to the resident population, fostering a sense of community and promoting social interaction.
  • Lead and participate in individual and group activities, utilizing a variety of models to achieve individualized programming, such as pet therapy, music therapy, and art therapy.
  • Assist with decorating the facility and preparing for special events and seasonal parties, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our residents.
  • Develop and post a monthly calendar as a planning resource for residents and families, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged.
  • Participate in recreational programs for residents confined to their rooms, providing entertainment and stimulation to those who may be unable to participate in group activities.
  • Promote volunteer efforts in the community, encouraging our residents to get involved and give back.
  • Maintain records of activities and attendance, tracking participation and engagement.
  • Store activity equipment and supplies and clean the area after conclusion of the activity, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
  • Utilize the biopsychosocial model to support resident well-being, addressing the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents.
  • Provide or arrange for comfort and support to residents and families when needed, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our team.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new modalities and approaches, with a strong desire to provide exceptional care and support to our residents.
  • Good listener, with the ability to build rapport easily and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, including nursing, therapy, and social services.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Able to work with residents and families facing end-of-life issues, providing comfort and support during difficult times.
