We are in search of a Senior Consultant to become a part of our Life Sciences division, which provides support to pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms through commercial insights, strategic planning, and implementation. This position will work in conjunction with our Life Science advisory teams, data specialists, and our firmwide Advanced Analytics and Intelligent Automation group to influence the expansion of our Life Science data services offerings.
Ideal candidates should be proactive, market-oriented individuals who take initiative in their responsibilities, demonstrate enthusiasm, and possess a collaborative approach to assist in our endeavors to market and deliver consulting solutions. You will oversee activities across various projects and contribute your expertise in management consulting, commercial analytics, and data-driven solution development.
Guidehouse is seeking a Business Analyst to join our Life Science team. As a Life Science Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing commercial analytic frameworks and advanced modeling methodologies.
- Utilizing commercial datasets to extract insights that address client challenges, including but not limited to medical and pharmacy claims (both open and closed), formulary and managed care data, and EMR data.
- Engaging with multiple third-party data providers, such as IQVIA, Komodo, Compile, MMIT/Norstella, Symphony Health, Truven/Merative, and Definitive Healthcare.
- Possessing a comprehensive understanding of commercial pharmaceutical and real-world evidence datasets.
- Leading requirements-gathering discussions with both internal and external stakeholders to refine client specifications and create tailored analytical solutions.
- Facilitating data-driven engagements by acting as a liaison between data scientists and clients.
- Analyzing client business challenges and aligning them with firm and/or third-party data and analytical capabilities.
- Collaborating with consulting teams and data scientists to design and implement data-driven projects, including market sizing/segmentation, provider profiling/targeting, provider affiliation mapping, epidemiology studies, managed care analytics, pull-through modeling/program design, forecasting, field force design, and incentive compensation.
- Identifying trends and opportunities for business growth.
- Assisting in the design and execution of extensive data analyses and the development of new solutions/services.
- Applying strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to convert business requirements into technological solutions.
- Supporting multiple client engagements; preparing presentations, briefings, memos, and reports. Ability to work independently while receiving oversight from management.
- Managing multiple tasks, researching, and analyzing relevant client, industry, and technical matters, employing problem-solving skills, and communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats to diverse audiences (including various levels of management and external clients) in a professional business context.
- Overseeing independent as well as integrated project components, including the management of workstreams and mentoring others.
- Presenting proposals and deliverables during meetings, summits, and collaborative sessions with senior client executives.
What You Will Need :
Minimum Security Clearance: Must be a US Citizen
Minimum Years of Experience: 5
Travel: Must be willing to travel to client sites across the US up to 20% of the time
- Minimum Education: bachelor's degree. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Life Sciences sector, management consulting, and/or data vendor roles is essential. Experience in commercial management consulting functions such as portfolio and asset strategy, launch excellence & brand planning, patient services, and market access is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills (Excel, Access, etc.) and the ability to leverage analytical techniques to guide client and team decision-making.
- Advanced data collection, research, and information-gathering experience, with a focus on exploring solutions that challenge critical thinking.
- 3+ years of experience in business & data analytics, including requirement elicitation, documentation of use cases and user stories, and exposure to IT project management.
- Familiarity with sophisticated drug forecasting techniques.
As part of the interview process for this opportunity, candidates will be required to complete an industry-specific case study. This case study will involve a presentation of the prompt, which will be provided prior to the scheduled interview.
What Would Be Nice to Have :
Education: Master's in business administration, Information Systems, Healthcare Management, Innovation and entrepreneurship, or a similar quantitative discipline.
- Experience in inline and pipeline forecasting and NPV modeling.
- Background in technical/product management and software development.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, R, Python.
- Capability to create client-ready forecasting models/financial models.
- Experience working with large datasets, including claims data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to review work products of oneself and others, producing deliverables that require minimal rework or editing.
