Position Overview:

The Electric Power Product Support Specialist will be instrumental in addressing intricate technical product challenges in collaboration with Caterpillar Dealers, ensuring that customers experience the performance, reliability, durability, and availability synonymous with the CAT brand. This role involves providing on-site assistance across a comprehensive range of diesel and gas electric power products and systems, including generators, controls, cooling systems, enclosures, and balance of plant. The incumbent will spearhead investigations into issues, conduct root cause analyses, and formulate and execute corrective measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site visits to deliver technical assistance, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues related to Electric Power products and systems, including performing site testing and validating product enhancements.
  • Train and support Caterpillar dealer personnel and others in diagnosing intricate product challenges.
  • Provide leadership and deep technical expertise in support of CPI projects, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and commercial teams to develop and implement both interim and permanent corrective actions.
  • Assess products and processes to identify manufacturing and design defects, modifying designs to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Gather and solicit feedback from internal and external sources to identify potential new products or enhancements to existing offerings that improve serviceability.
  • Draft technical specifications and guidelines to ensure product quality and performance, while tracking and managing project statuses from inception to release.

Location: Preferred in Lafayette, Indiana, with additional opportunities in other locations.

Travel Requirements: 50-70% domestic travel.
