CRNA Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations.
- Prepare detailed health histories, perform physical examinations, and request necessary diagnostic studies.
- Administer pre-anesthetic medications and obtain informed consent for anesthesia procedures.
- Provide preoperative and intraoperative care.
- Manage all equipment, monitors, supplies, and medications used in anesthesia administration, ensuring safety checks are performed.
- Select and administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and blood products as needed.
- Perform airway management and insert peripheral venous catheters.
- Utilize current standards for non-invasive monitoring techniques.
- Assess patient responses during emergence from anesthesia and provide necessary pharmacological or supportive treatment.
- Conduct post-anesthesia evaluations to monitor patient recovery.
- Initiate respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation after anesthesia.
- Administer pharmacological or fluid support for cardiovascular stability post-anesthesia.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an unencumbered state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
- Board certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists is required.
- A current license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth is necessary.
- At least one year of experience as a CRNA is preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
