Mainframe Consultant Job Description

Aitek Group is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Consultant to join our team. As a Mainframe Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications, focusing on payment processing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications, focusing on payment processing systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams, including business stakeholders, architects, project managers, and testers, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior associates.
  • Middleware Technologies: Work extensively with middleware technologies like MQ, messaging systems, and batch/web services (REST/SOAP).
  • Application Development Lifecycle: Participate in the application development lifecycle, from initial concept through implementation, with a focus on quality and performance.
  • UNIX/Linux Development: Manage development in UNIX/Linux environments using tools such as bash and Perl.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Leverage Splunk, AppDynamics, AutoSys, and Prognosis for monitoring and optimization.
  • RDBMS Systems: Apply knowledge of RDBMS systems, particularly Oracle and SQL, in database development.
  • Communication Patterns: Develop and support synchronous/asynchronous communication patterns, with a focus on messaging, correlation, and queuing.
  • Payment Systems: Work closely with payment systems, including WIRES, Cross-Border Payments, FED/CHIPS, and SWIFT protocols (ISO).
Required Skills:
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in software development, testing, and maintenance roles.
  • Mainframe Development: Expertise in Mainframe Development and payment processing systems (WIRES, SWIFT, Cross Border Payments).
  • Oracle and SQL: Strong experience with Oracle, SQL, and database objects.
  • UNIX/Linux Development: Proficiency in UNIX/Linux development environments and middleware technologies.
  • J2EE/JBoss and Agile/DevOps: Familiarity with J2EE/JBoss, Agile/DevOps methodologies, and APIs.
  • Money Transfer Systems: Knowledge of money transfer systems (MTS), compliance regulations, and clearinghouse mandates such as CHIPS and FEDWIRE.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work across multiple technology teams and adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • AIX, COBOL, and Python: Experience with AIX, COBOL, Python, and middleware technologies.
  • Splunk, AppDynamics, and AutoSys: Familiarity with tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, AutoSys, and Prognosis.
  • Security and Performance Monitoring: In-depth knowledge of security, logging, auditing, policy management, and performance monitoring.
